The cross-disciplinary conference aims at driving attention to gender issues and investigating the women’s role in modernist architecture, art and urban planning.

We invite to participate architectural and art historians, sociologists, architects, culture experts and other contiguous field experts, as well as postgraduate students interested in presentation and further publication of their academic works related to gender issues in architecture, art and urban planning.

The conference will host:

*  two thematic sections that will involve researchers from Ukraine and other European countries: “Woman in Professional Architecture and Art. History” (woman as creator and subject of architecture and art), “Woman in Architectural Space. Practice” (woman as beneficiary of architectural space and object of project activities).

*  a round table featuring hands-on architects who will cast light on profession-related gender inequality encountered by women working in the field of architecture.

If you are interested in participating in one of the two sections, you are welcome to submit the synopsis of your research containing at most 300 words and your brief curriculum vitae.

If you are interested in participating in the round table, you are welcome to submit an essay on your career in architecture or urban planning containing at most 300 words and your brief curriculum vitae.

Send the mentioned materials to female.modernists@gmail.com before 15 February 2016.

The conference is organized by NGO Urban Forms Center and Heinrich Böll Foundation’s Office in Ukraine.
